Monday Day6 - Period 3
Students present and explain the process of constructing their own poems followed by peer editing and discussion.
Students read, discuss and annotate, ‘The Kids in School With Me’ by Langston Hughes.

Tuesday Day1 - Period 4
Students work on two poems, ‘Morning’ by Dionne Brand and ‘Night’ by Sergei Esenin. Students are to annotate the poems highlighting poetic devices.
Homework – Complete final draft of their own poem. Due date Wednesday 05 March

Wednesday Day2 - Period 2
Students work on preparing their own poems describing a contrasting situation.

Thursday Day3 - No class

Friday Day4 - Periods 3 and 4
Period 3 Students continue working on their own contrasting poems. Students read their poems aloud, peer editing and discussion.
Period 4 – Sustained Silent Reading – poetry books
Homework – Students produce final drafts of their poems on the computer with graphics. Prepare for in class reading and questions form the peers on choice on language and poetic devices. Due date Monday 10 March
